Mark  Chapter 15 Verses 29-30    The people passing by shouted abuse, shaking their heads in mockery. “Ha! Look at you now!” they yelled at Him.   “You said You were going to destroy the Temple and rebuild it in three days.  Well then, save Yourself and come down from the cross!”                 (NASB)

Thank God, the LORD Jesus did not listen to the abuse and come down from the cross.  Even if Jesus did come down off of the cross, they still would not believe.  Oh, He had the power to do that.  He could have asked His Father for a legion of angels to come to His aid.   But as we read yesterday, He was “Born to Die”.

An excerpt from “The Majesty and the Mockery of the Cross”, by Bill Crowder

The mockers denied the power of Christ. – The crowd was working from the assumption that weakness kept Jesus attached to the cross.  In actuality it was His omnipotent strength.

The mockers denied the purpose of Christ. – The unrecognized mission of Christ was not to save Himself; it was to give Himself.

The mockers denied the person of Christ. – The mockers were yelling, “Where is your God now!”   To say, “God is Your Father?  Really?  He is not helping you now!”

Take time out today to read Psalm 22.

In Christ,

Stephen and Mary
