PEACE IN A FOXHOLE

Isaiah Chapter 26 Verse 3     You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.

Proverbs Chapter 22 Verse 6    Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it.

Romans Chapter 10 Verse 13    For “WHOEVER WILL CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD SHALL BE SAVED.”

The other day on the radio I heard a story of a veteran who was in the midst of a fierce battle.  Danger and death loomed all around him and a paralyzing fear gripped his heart.   But then all his Christian upbringing came before him, and he called on the name of the LORD.   He said, “Dear Jesus, if I am going to die, please take me to be with You.”    Amidst the calamity all around him, a peace (a peace that the world cannot give) filled his heart and his mind.

That day his soul was saved, and he lived to tell about it!   The Word of the LORD is “Yes and Amen!”

In Christ,

Stephen and Mary

A Garland to Grace

Proverbs Chapter 1 Verses 8-9     Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction and do not forsake your mother’s teaching.   They are a garland to grace your head and a chain to adorn your neck.

Today’s VOD is an excerpt from the WithTrueHope blog.  If you are interested in studying the Book of Proverbs, come join me this summer! You’ll find daily breakdowns of Proverbs here: https://withtruehope.wordpress.com/category/proverbs/ .

The Book of Proverbs contains statements of well-established perfect truth.  What does this mean?  It means that Proverbs provides the most universal yet most personal purposes, insights, and answers for living life as God intends by the author of life Himself– God.

The graceful garland and adorning chain in Proverbs 1:8-9 signify a distinguishment.  They are items which would certainly make it obvious that the wearer is set apart, different from the norm.  That’s the effect of listening to wise (aka God-given) instruction and not forsaking wise (aka God-given) teaching– standing apart from the masses as a peculiar person.

Isn’t that what all Christians are called to?

“But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light” (1 Peter 2:9, KJV).

“And the Lord hath avouched thee this day to be his peculiar people, as he hath promised thee, and that thou shouldest keep all his commandments” (Deuteronomy 26:18, KJV).

Let’s be graceful garland, adorning chain wearing wisdom listening peculiar people!

In Christ,

Victoria

Love One Another

John Chapter 13 Verses 34-35     A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another even as I have loved you, that you also love one another.  By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.           (NASB)

In Christ,

Stephen and Mary

Yes and Amen!

Psalm 119 Verses 49-50    Remember the word to Your servant, in which You have made me hope.  This is my comfort in my affliction, that Your word has revived me.

2 Corinthians Chapter 1 Verse 20     For as many are the promises of God, in Him (Jesus) they are yes; therefore also through Him is our Amen to the glory of God through us.

As Christians, we have to believe and stand on the Word of God no matter what the circumstances.    God’s word is “YES AND AMEN!”

Are you lonely? – “I will never leave you nor forsake you!”

Not enough funds to pay the bills? – “I am your Provider.”

Your past sins holding you back? – “Those who are in Me (Jesus Christ) are a new creation.”

Are you fearful – “Do not be afraid, it is I, Jesus!”

Are you physically sick – “I am your Great Physician!”

Do you need to be comforted – “I will send the HOLY SPIRIT, the Comforter.”

Had enough? –  “My Grace is sufficient for you.”

Are you tired and exhausted? – “Those who wait upon the LORD will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary.”

Do you need to make decisions? – “Anyone who lacks wisdom, come and ask Me and I will generously give it.”

Are you heavy burdened with your sins and cares?   Is the LORD Jesus your Savior?      If not, He is telling you, “Come to me all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”   He will save your soul from the pit of hell; cleanse you of all your sins by the blood He shed on the cross;  give you a hope and a future with Him in eternity; and He will give you joy and peace that you have never known before.

In Christ,

Stephen and Mary

No Greater Love

John Chapter 15 Verse 13    Greater love has no one than this,  that one lay down his life for his friends.         (NASB)

Today we remembered all those who gave their lives to preserve our freedom.   As we remember those soldiers, let us also look back 2000 years ago and remember the ONE who gave His life so that we could have true freedom.   Scripture tells us that when you are free in Jesus, you are free indeed!   Thank God for His love which He displayed by giving His life for ours.

In Christ,

Stephen and Mary

Cast into the Sea

Micah Chapter 7 Verses 18-19      Who is a God like You, who pardons iniquity and passes over the rebellious act of the remnant of His possession?  He does not retain His anger forever, because He delights in unchanging love.

He will again have compassion on us; He will tread our iniquities under foot.  Yes, You will cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.

2 Corinthians Chapter 5 Verse 17       Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.     (NASB)

Are you heavy burdened today?   Full of guilt?  Full of shame?   Come to the Lamb of God, the LORD Jesus, whose blood was shed to take away our sins!

In Christ,

Stephen and Mary

OUR PRIVILEGE

Psalm 105 Verses 1-3

Oh give thanks to the LORD, call upon His name; make known His deeds among the peoples.   Sing to Him, sing praises to Him; speak of all His wonders.  Glory in His holy name.  Let the heart of those who seek the LORD be glad.     (NASB)

Last night at Bible study, the message was on the privilege we have as believers.   Did you catch that, we said “privilege”?   We don’t always think about the privilege that we have…often times we think of it as a “cross we have to bear”.     However, today’s Psalm reminds us that as believers in Jesus Christ we have specific privileges that are not available to “unbelievers”.

One of those privileges is ACCESS – ACCESS to our Heavenly Father.   The first verse reminds us that we can CALL UPON HIS NAME!  No waiting in line…no being told that there are other things more important…no being ignored, just unlimited ACCESS to the Creator of the Universe.    Now THAT is truly a privilege!     We can bring all of our requests to ABBA, Father and HE not only listens, but HE responds.    How awesome is that?

Be encouraged today, because, there is ONE GOD and we have the privilege to be able to go directly to HIM with all of our needs, problems, concerns…or even to just sit in his presence!

In Christ,

Stephen and Mary
